Backend / Principal Engineer

YoloPrice is an embeddable e-commerce platform integrated into third-party mobile applications through our own mobile SDK.
The platform powers product search, pricing, offer comparison, synchronization, and other core e-commerce workflows.
We build and operate a production backend that connects to 300+ stores and marketplaces, collects data from external sources, processes it in real time and periodically, and serves it to the mobile SDK.

The backend works with a large number of external data sources and supports both real-time and scheduled data collection and processing without relying on ready-made product feeds.

Most of the backend is already running in production. You will be responsible for its development and technical health: evolving existing services, refactoring where necessary, improving the architecture, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing new tasks.
The backend sits at the intersection of e-commerce, data, and ML. You don’t need to be an ML engineer - the models are already part of the product.
We’re Hiring:

This role is for an engineer who wants to influence the backend as a whole, rather than simply complete individual tasks. You should understand how the system works, see the dependencies between services, and make technical decisions based on their impact on the product as a whole.
You’ll Own
- Develop and maintain the backend platform and its business logic.
- Own the overall technical health and development of the backend.
- Maintain services responsible for collecting and processing data from external sources.
- Develop and maintain integrations with external services.
- Troubleshoot production issues: work with logs, identify root causes, and resolve failures.
- Refactor and improve existing services.
- Evolve the backend architecture and make technical decisions about its further development.
- Improve monitoring, diagnostics, and service operations.
- Independently analyze new tasks, propose solutions, and implement them on the backend.
- Work closely with the SDK engineer on tasks that affect both technical domains.
What Matters:
- 7+ years of commercial backend development experience.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, networking, and asynchronous programming.
- Experience developing and maintaining production systems.
- Ability to quickly understand an existing codebase and identify the root cause of a problem.
- Ability to see the system as a whole and assess the impact of changes on related parts of the system.
- Experience developing backend systems for a real user-facing product where service reliability directly affects the user experience.
- Willingness to work with Python: most of the current backend codebase is written in Python.
- Ability to make technical decisions independently and take ownership of the result.
- Ability to independently drive a task from definition to completion.
- Willingness to take technical ownership of the backend rather than simply implement individual tasks.
Nice to Have
- Backend development experience with Go or a JVM-based stack (Java/Kotlin).
- Experience with real-time data collection and processing systems.
- Experience with distributed systems and data pipelines.
- Experience working with ML components in production.
- Google Cloud, including Cloud Run.
- Docker, CI/CD.
- Monitoring, logging, and observability.
- Experience working on B2C products.
